Defensive Driving Courses, July - September
The senior center is partnering with the Minnesota Safety Council to provide defensive driving classes. People age 55+ are eligible to receive a 10% auto insurance discount.
Four-hour refresher courses designed for those who have previously completed an eight-hour course will held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:
- Thursday, July 7
- Wednesday, August 10
- Thursday, September 8
Class size is limited and you must register in advance. The cost is $25 per person payable by cash or check at the senior center in advance. Call and reserve your spot today!

Treasure Island Casino Trips, July 11 & August 1
You can ride the coach bus to Treasure Island Casino on Monday, July 11 and Monday, August 1. For each trip the bus will depart the community center at 8:30 a.m. and return at about 3:45 p.m.
There is a $20 bus ride charge for each trip and those going will receive $15 on their casino card and a $3 off food coupon. Please sign up and pay at least one week prior to the trip dates.
Riverfest Block Party, Thursday, July 14
People of all ages are invited to the Riverfest Block Party on Thursday, July 14. Stop by the south side of the community center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a corndog, chips, dessert, and soda.
This event is free thanks to sponsorship by the Monticello Community and Senior Centers, the city of Monticello, and the Army National Guard.
Over 90's Party, Monday, July 25
People age 90+ will be honored at the center on Monday, July 25 beginning with a noon dinner. Then the special guests will be introduced. We hope many people sign up for this event and help honor our guests.
The meal cost for those under age 90 is $5 and there is no charge for people age 90+. The meal includes goulash, vegetable, dinner roll, and dessert.
Property Tax Assistance, Thursday, July 28
Low to moderate income persons of any age can get help filing their Property Tax Returns. Trained volunteers will be at the center on Thursday, July 28 to provide this free service.
Appointments are required. Please call the Senior Center to schedule your appointment.
Padelford Riverboat Cruise, Wednesday, August 24
Head to Harriet Island on Wednesday, August 24 where you will board a Padelford Riverboat to enjoy a two-hour Picnic Lunch Cruise.
As you take in the sites along the beautiful mighty Mississippi, you can indulge in a delicious meal featuring BBQ chicken, pulled pork with buns, green chili cheddar cornbread, potato salad, seasonal fruit, cookies, and coffee.
The trip cost is $70 per person. The bus will depart the community center at 9:45 a.m. and return at about 3:45 p.m. The deadline to register is July 22.
